Susan Wisbey-Smith Named President of CLM;
Tina Pernie Named Head of Strategy and Operations
The Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), an affiliate of The Institutes, is pleased to announce Susan Wisbey-Smith as its new President and Tina Pernie as the new Head of Strategy and Operations. Wisbey-Smith will assume her role immediately and Pernie will join CLM effective July 1.

Her passion for the CLM community is strong and will help her lead CLM to new heights,” says Katherine Horowitz, Executive Vice President and Head Of Business Units.

I look forward to emphasizing CLM’s roots of fully serving both claims and litigation management, and to expanding on the excellent work of the CLM team and our membership. I am excited to develop and execute CLM initiatives that will give our Advisory Board, our strong CCO community, and our full membership, the opportunity to respond and guide the conversations around the challenges that face the claims and litigation management communities,” says Wisbey-Smith.
Wisbey-Smith worked for CLM in multiple roles from 2011 through 2020, ultimately serving as Chief Communications Officer. In 2020, she transitioned to The Institutes, CLM’s parent company, where she served as Vice President of Business Unit Marketing. She began her career in insurance immediately after college and has held several marketing and leadership positions including those with a medical malpractice carrier and Business Insurance. Wisbey-Smith has also served in consulting roles to the Spencer Educational Foundation and the American Insurance Association.
Pernie worked with CLM from 2014 through 2021, ultimately serving as Chief Operating Officer. During her tenure at CLM, she was responsible for overall operational efficiency, strategic vision implementation, talent acquisition, and IT innovation. She was integral in launching CLM Tracker and guided the direction of CLM events. For the past three years, she has served as Head of Strategic Partnerships for North American Risk Services. Pernie began her career in claims and has held roles in litigation and vendor management.
