Senior Management Team

Our Senior Management Team has a constant focus on risk management and insurance trends to ensure we are continuously positioned to best meet the knowledge and resource needs of those interested in risk management and insurance. 

Peter L. Miller, MS, MBA, CPCU

PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Peter Miller is president and chief executive officer of The Institutes Risk & Insurance Knowledge Group and a member of its Senior Management Team. He also chairs the Board of Directors for The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, and The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative®, and he serves as a member of The Institutes Risk & Insurance Knowledge Group's Board of Trustees.

Miller is a graduate of Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration (with a minor in economics) and a master’s degree in systems management. He also holds an MBA degree from Villanova University and has done extensive PhD-level work in computer information systems. Miller holds the CPCU® designation from The Institutes. In addition, he chairs the Institute for Global Insurance Education’s board and is a member of the Insurance Institute of Switzerland’s board, the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America’s Invest Board of Trustees, and the Graduate Business Advisory Council at Villanova University.

Ruben Carriedo

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF CUSTOMER OFFICER

As senior vice president and chief customer officer of The Institutes Risk & Insurance Knowledge Group and a member of its Senior Management Team, Ruben Carriedo provides strategic oversight and leadership for The Institutes’ core educational offerings. He provides direct leadership to Sales and Marketing and oversight for all aspects of product and content development, assessments, and customer support.

Carriedo holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the United States Naval Academy and has served as a naval officer. Before joining The Institutes Knowledge Group, he spent more than 20 years in consumer marketing and sales, working in leadership roles for The Hershey Company, Campbell Soup Company, and Hallmark Cards, Inc.

Robert J. Haracz, MS, CPCU

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

Robert Haracz is senior vice president and chief information officer of The Institutes Risk & Insurance Knowledge Group and a member of its Senior Management Team. He is responsible for developing the enterprise’s technology strategy and leading staff to implement actions that support it. In addition, he leads the enterprise research organization, as well as enterprise business development.

Haracz graduated summa cum laude from Drexel University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, was a GAANN (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) Fellowship winner in attendance at the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a master’s degree in information science from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes.

Katherine Horowitz

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND HEAD OF BUSINESS UNITS

Katherine Horowitz is executive vice president and head of business units for The Institutes Risk & Insurance Knowledge Group and a member of its Senior Management Team. The business units she oversees include the Agent & Broker Group, Black Insurance Industry Collective (BIIC), Claims and Litigation Management (CLM) Alliance, Claims Pages, The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, Insurance Information Institute, International Insurance Society, Insurance Research Council, Pacific Insurance Conference, and Risk & Insurance Group. 

Additionally, Horowitz oversees human resources, business unit marketing, partnerships, and enterprise mergers and acquisitions, as well as focusing on integrating acquisitions and affiliations. She serves as corporate secretary, with responsibility for corporate governance and board relations.

Before joining The Institutes Knowledge Group, Horowitz worked in human resources at Susquehanna International Group, a global investment and trading firm. She graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Neumann University.

Jeffrey Scheidt, CPCU, CPA, ARM-E

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Jeffrey Scheidt is senior vice president and chief financial officer of The Institutes Risk & Insurance Knowledge Group and a member of its Senior Management Team. In this role, he is responsible for all financial activities of The Institutes Knowledge Group, including financial reporting and management, forward planning, taxation and treasury activities, facilities and inventory management, and legal operations.

Scheidt holds the CPCU, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and Associate in Risk Management-ERM (ARM-E™) designations. He is a graduate of Loyola University Maryland, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
