Senior Management Team
Our Senior Management Team has a constant focus on risk management and insurance trends to ensure we are continuously positioned to best meet the knowledge and resource needs of those interested in risk management and insurance.
Peter L. Miller, MS, MBA, CPCU
PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Peter L. Miller is president and chief executive officer of The Institutes and a member of The Institutes’ Senior Management Team. He chairs the Board of Directors for The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, The International Insurance Society, Insurance Information Institute, Black Insurance Industry Collective, Catastrophe Resiliency Council, The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative, and The Insurance Accounting and Systems Association as well as serves ex-officio as a member of The Institutes’ Board of Trustees.
Miller is a graduate of Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a minor in economics, and a master’s degree in systems management. He also holds an MBA from Villanova University and has done extensive PhD-level work in computer information systems. Miller holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes. In addition, he chairs the Institute for Global Insurance Education (IGIE).
Robert J. Haracz, MS, CPCU
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER
Robert Haracz is senior vice president and chief information officer of The Institutes and a member of its Senior Management Team. He is responsible for the strategic and operational functions of information technology, marketing, business intelligence, and business development for the Enterprise of The Institutes.
Haracz graduated summa cum laude from Drexel University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, was a GAANN (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) Fellowship winner in attendance at the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a master's degree in information science from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes.
Katherine Horowitz
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND HEAD OF BUSINESS UNITS
Katherine Horowitz is executive vice president and head of business units for The Institutes and a member of its Senior Management Team. Horowitz is responsible for leading various business units and departments. The business units she oversees include: Agent & Broker Group, Claims Litigation Management, Claims Pages, CPCU Society, Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, Insurance Information Institute, International Insurance Society, Insurance Research Council, Pacific Insurance Conference, Risk & Insurance Group, and The Insurance Accounting and Systems Association.
Additionally, Horowitz oversees Partnerships, Events, and enterprise mergers and acquisitions, as well as, focuses on integrating acquisitions and affiliations. She serves on the Board of Directors for The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, The International Insurance Society, Insurance Information Institute, Black Insurance Industry Collective, Catastrophe Resiliency Council, The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative, and The Insurance Accounting and Systems Association.
Prior to joining The Institutes in 2008, she worked in Human Resources at Susquehanna International Group (SIG), a global investment and trading firm. Horowitz holds a bachelor’s degree from Neumann University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She also holds a master’s degree in strategic management and executive leadership from Penn State University.
Jeffrey Scheidt, CPCU, CPA, ARM-E
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Jeffrey Scheidt is senior vice president and chief financial officer of The Institutes and a member of its Senior Management Team. In his role, he oversees The Institutes financial strategy and operations, encompassing financial reporting, planning, taxation, treasury, as well as the management of facilities, legal affairs, and human resources.
Scheidt holds the CPCU, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and Associate in Risk Management-ERM (ARM-E™) designations. He is a graduate of Loyola University Maryland, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
