Mechelle Telford
We celebrate Black History Month by sharing insights from our enterprise employees. We appreciate this opportunity to recognize the work they do to contribute to an uplifting company culture. Thank you, Mechelle Telford!

What is your role and how long have you worked at The Institutes?
I took the roll of Webinar Manager in the Summer of 2021 and have been The Institutes for 5 ½ years.
What inspired you to get into your current role?
In my previous role, I had produced and overseen a variety of projects from Webinars to Tech Talks to Conferences both online and in person and found that I greatly enjoyed doing, therefore, I was drawn to this position when it became available because I saw the same commitment to do more of what I like on a permanent basis.
What accomplishments are you most proud of professionally and/or personally?
I am part of the mentorship program with Big Brother/Big Sister, and I am very proud of the changes and positive influence I am making in my “littles” life.
What is something most people don't know about you?
I was so petrified of water that I only learn how to swim last year 2023.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
Black History Month to me should mean a time to reflect on how far blacks have come, it should be a time to love one another, a time to promote Diversity and Inclusion, a time to forgive and to understand, a time to embrace different cultures, a time to celebrate achievements, I think it shouldn’t be just a “month,” it should be something we celebrate EVERY SINGLE DAY, because I believe in this way, it will help us to address racism constantly, which will in turn help us to have an open conversation everyday as opposed to only be spotlighted in the month of February.
